In 2007, residents in the area of Arlene Drive, Kingfisher Drive, Pelican Drive and Pelican Court voted to form a Road Improvement District to reconstruct subdivision roads in poor repair. Work is expected to include removal and replacement of existing curb, pavement and road base; street light upgrades; and installation of insulation board, geotextile fabric and subdrains with footing drain stub-outs to each parcel.
The project is being funded through the Municipality of Anchorage’s Road Improvement District (RID) program. Generally, RID project development costs are shared between property owners within the area (10%) and residents throughout the Municipality of Anchorage (90%). Residents in the Arlene Drive/Kingfisher Drive/Pelican Drive/Pelican Court area will be assessed no more than 110 percent of the estimated cost of the project.
