The community south of the Parks Highway, between South Trunk Road and Fairview Loop Road, is growing. The Fred and Sara Machetanz Elementary School opened its doors in fall 2009. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is seeking ways to make traveling easier and safer for the walking, biking and driving public. This Web site provides information to help you understand the study, and provide us with your comments. Check back for project updates, and notice of future opportunities to comment on this project at public hearings on the project.

April 2010 Update
The following graphic shows all the current alternatives under consideration. The Nelson Road East Grade Separated is a modification to a previously considered alternative developed in consultation with the property owner north of Fairview Loop Road. The next step in the process is for a discussion and public hearing at the Borough Planning Commission meeting. The alternatives will be introduced at the May 3, 2010 Planning Commission meeting and the public hearing will be held on May 17, 2010.
